On the bookshelf: Nothing yet, but something’s in the works that will be released this year.
Why we’re fans: Jessica is just like Austin – young, hip and food-friendly. While she sticks to recipes on her blog, Jessica is immersed in the city’s gastronomic happenings, and often tweets to spread the word about events. She also has her finger on the pulse of food culture in general, like when she hosted the virtual Gluten-Free Pizza Fest (see below), which offered a celiac-friendly take on the gourmet pizza trend.
Jessica’s Story: I’ve been a diagnosed celiac for a couple years now. It has been a complete blessing, and that is why I started my blog. I wanted to help others in their gluten-free journey by posting local information for Austin, TX, and gluten-free recipes that anyone can enjoy (my boyfriend, who is my recipe tester, is not gluten-free). I mainly post recipes on my blog, with 1 or 2 blog posts each month just for my local Austin area.
According to Jessica: The most unexpected part of going gluten-free was learning that there are a wide variety of gluten-free foods that are better than gluten foods. I’ve grown a love of baking recently and believe they taste better than the old version.
