On the bookshelf: I am actually in the process of getting my first cookbook published. The title is still in the air, but I do know it will contain about 150 recipes with photos— all 100% vegan and gluten-free.
Why we’re fans: Allyson started her blog with a focus on vegan recipes, but as of December 2009, all of her recipes are also gluten-free. If you’re intimidated by recipes like Besan Fries, have no fear. Allyson’s blog includes a gluten-free section with tips on what gluten-free flours to use when, and what to expect from the results.
Allyson’s Story:I was diagnosed with celiac disease in December of 2009.According to Allyson: The toughest part of going gluten-free was learning how to bake all over again! I was so accustomed to baking with wheat flour for the past 20 years, that using all the other types of gluten-free flours really presented me with a huge learning curve. I think I had about 60 complete cooking/baking failures before I felt confident with gluten-free recipe development!
